現在、地域猫として世話をしている外猫が数匹おります。その中でも、特に人馴れのした（おそらく以前は飼い猫だった）猫ちゃん達の一時預かりをしてくださる方を募集しております。野良猫なので怖いと思われるかもしれませんが、本当に人間が大好きで信頼をしている猫ばかりです。里親を募集するにも、まず一時預かりをして室内猫として経験を積まなければなりません。一時預かりの際は、ケージをお貸しし安心して一時預かりのできる環境をサポートさせていただきます。避妊・去勢手術済みで、一時預かり前に病院で検査・ワクチン接種を行います。短期間でも結構ですので、ぜひご協力をお願いいたします。ご協力いただける方はぜひ helptokyokitty@gmail.com　までご連絡ください！！

Our volunteer members feed and take care of stray kitties every day. Among these stray kitties, there are extremely friendly ones(most likely abandoned) and they deserve to a chance to be re-homed. They need to spend some time at a foster house to prove that they can be adopted. We will lend you a cage and other supplies if necessary to provide a safe and enjoyable fostering experience.

ボランティアさんの活動報告 Volunteer Activities

先週、ボランティアさんの餌やりを見学に行きました。ボランティアさんは1年365日、毎晩、マンションの駐車場や工場の敷地側などの決まった場所に猫ちゃん達に会いに行きます。時間になると晴れでも雨でも猫ちゃん達はボランティアさんを待っているそうです。ボランティアさん達は餌やりをしながら猫の健康状態や新しい猫がいないかもきちんとチェックをしています。実はその餌やり場には猫小屋がこっそり置かれてあるのです。



飼い主のいない野良猫を無責任にかわいがっている、などと誤解を受けてしまうことがあるそうです。
ただ、こうやってボランティアさんが毎日餌やりをして見守ることは実に意味のあることなのです。

1）不妊手術を行っているので野良猫の数が増えない　
2）きまった餌やりをすることでゴミなどを荒らさない
3）猫達がいることでネズミが増えない

ある地域のボランティア活動は過去7年間で以下の実績を上げています。

猫の去勢・避妊手術：91匹
犬の去勢・避妊手術：4匹
猫の里親・譲渡：41匹


実はボランティアさんといっても大勢の人数で行っているわけではありません。有志の数人で行っているのです。ですので各ボランティアさんの肉体的、精神的、経済的な負担は大きいのです。猫のボランティアだけに限りませんが、ここまで献身的にボランティアをするということは非常に難しいのです。それ故に本当に感謝、尊敬の気持ちでいっぱいです。
本当に、ありがとうございます。
そして、みなさんも自分のできる範囲でボランティアを行っていただければと思います。頑張りましょう。

Last Week, I visited the kitty sites where volunteers feed and patrol every night. By the time I got there about 6:30pm, kitties were already waiting and some friendly kitties were seeking love and attention. During an hour long patrol, the volunteer ladies took me to 3 different sites in 1 mile radius. Each site had 5-6 kitties and they all seem to live in harmony. They even have a little kitty house to sleep in! Every evening, this volunteer group patrols the area to feed and check kitties' health. Once a while they get a newcomer and they have to arrange for neutering/spaying. They really take good care of these kitties.
They often receive complaints from other residents. Some people do not agree with what they do. But I believe their activities have positive effects to the local community; 1) decrease the number of stray cats in the area 2) cats do not scavenge food from garbage bins 3) decrease the number of rats/mice.

This volunteer group activities from 2003 to 2009 resulted in
91 cats neutered/spayed
4 dogs neutered/spayed
41 cats adopted

This group has only a few volunteers. Like any other volunteer group, they struggle to recruit committed volunteers. Needless to say, it is physically, mentally and financially demanding for each volunteer to carry out the mission.
I cannot thank these volunteers enough. I have a huge respect and appreciation to what they do and I am lucky to have met these wonderful people.
